Fat Free Salads

Thought salad was good for your diet ,huh? Well, you probably thought wrong! First off, i am glad  you are eating salads. It’s a step in  the right direction generally speaking. However, i am not just going to give you a thumb up until you can tell me what exactly is in that salads. you see, the problem isn’t necessarily the salad…. but more so it has to do with the add -one that so in the salads.

Fat free salads dressing contains calorie, so it can cause you to gain weight if you eat more of it than you realize. Each tablespoon of fat free dressing only provides about 20 calorie, but the calories can add up  quickly if you eat several servings in a large salad. However, fat free salad dressing is lower in calories than full fat versions, which may have up to 100 calories per tablespoons, and the promote healthy eating by adding flavor to vegetable salads. you don’t need unhealthy fat, often found in bottled dressing as saturated or trans(“hydrogenated” or “partially hydrogenated”) fats. Also avid sky- high levels of sodium, unhealthy sweeteners, or additives such as artificial flavors, colors, texture enhancers and preservatives. Look for olive-oil based dressings without artificial ingredients–real seasonings and herbs taste better. As an alternative, making your own fat free salads dressing doesn’t have to be complicated. Extra virgin olive oil and  balsamic vinegar are always a good bet. OR , use avocado combined with lemon or lime juice. Just because you are dieting , this does not mean you have to skimp on taste. Try different salad dressings and light salad toppings( raisins,pineapples,sunflower seeds), that are light and low calorie/fat free and expand your taste buds when you are dieting and still have a successful weight loss.

Adding too much dressing– even if it’s healthy–also isn’t good . To avoid the pitfall, don’t just pour dressing onto your salads plate. Put the greens , alone , in a big bowl and drizzle the dressing over them,gently– they can’t swim. Toss lightly but thoroughly until the leaves are evenly coated, then ass the rest of your salad vegetables and toss a couple more times.This way, your fat free salads will have more flavor. Fat free salads dressing is bad for you if you do not have another source of vitamin E, which is an essential vitamin and antioxidant. An important role of healthy oils, such as from full salad dressing, is too provided vitamin E.    Heart -healthy unsaturated fats are also lacking in fat free salad dressing, But you get    vitamin E and good fats from other sources,such as nuts and seeds instead.
